Attempting to balance animation and the ability for focused reading, inspiring navigation, and best practices I implemented the 2023 edition of Arla Fonden's report on children and food, Børn, Unge og Mad 2023 for Radius who wrote, designed, and layouted the report.
I tweaked the existing design and layout a bit to increase the ease of reading and ease of navigation. Even with now a few years since many departed from static PDFs towards new dynamic ways of presenting text and graph-heavy reports digitally, I believe that there is still room for improvement and further development and that in each case we need to find the unique expression, both visually and functionality-wise, that makes the brand, the content, and the experience come together.
Balancing overview and detail, and providing the ability to understand progress while being able to navigate is something I always strive for and try to improve for each process. The concept of a combined progress indication and navigation, 'progress-navigation', is one of my favorite tools to help both guide and assist the user in the reading experience.
When scrolling deeper and deeper through an article it's nice to get a hint about where to stop. The concept of an end mark is a classic print concept known from book pages and newspaper articles. We added it here in the shape of the brand mark, so it also gained the connotation of a signature.◼
